01. Set A Timer
The first tip for creating an evening side hustle routine is to set a timer for your working session. This sounds simple, but you don’t want to overlook it! If you prefer the evening, then chances are this is when you find the most energy. You can stay up later and your brain feels more awake.
However, this can often lead to overworking yourself at night. The last thing you want is to stay up too late and feel even worse in the morning. A timer can help give you some clear boundaries for turning off the computer at night and going to bed. I use this $18 cube timer from Amazon every day. You can flip the timer to automatically begin counting down and keep it handy on your desk.
02. Eat Dinner At The Same Time
The next tip for developing a healthy evening side hustle routine is to eat dinner at the same time each night. This routine helps you create a regular schedule. For example. if you know that you’re eating dinner every night at 7, then it’s easy to know that your side hustle work begins at 8. This routine also helps prevent you from eating too late and skipping your evening work block.
A part of eating dinner at the same time each night is also having a weekly dinner plan! Meal prepping or creating a weekly menu ahead of time can save you a lot of time throughout the week. And as a side hustler, saving time is everything! Create a healthy dinner routine so you can literally use it as fuel for a healthy evening working routine.
03. Create The Right Atmosphere
Another key element in creating a healthy evening side hustle routine is the atmosphere. As an evening side hustler, it’s important to be cozy while working! If you have an evening of computer work, enjoy some comfy pajamas and cozy socks. Lighting a candle and/or playing an instrumental playlist are also great suggestions for this!
Atmosphere enhancements like these help you devote time to your side hustle in a different manner. They can not just make you feel more comfortable but apply devotion and intention to your evening working block. Consider what atmosphere changes you can put in place, big or small, to help make more of a routine out of your night.
04. Create Clear Goals & To-Do’s
A part of your side hustle evening routine should absolutely be creating clear goals and to-dos! Your evening work routine should start and/or stop with organizing your objectives. You may have a great routine in place and find no issue working. However if you don’t have a clear idea of what you should be working on, you run the risk of working only on low-hanging fruit.
By creating your daily to-do’s you can prioritize what truly needs to get done. And building this organization into your routine ensures that it becomes a habit! It’s very easy to feel unorganized when it comes to side hustling. So be sure to create healthy habits with organization at the beginning. 05. Start & Stop Your Evening Specifically
Creating routines around starting and stopping your work blocks is a great method to developing side hustle habits. By starting your work session the same each evening, you create more of a normal experience. This can easily lead to consistency versus if your working sessions looked radically different each evening.
The same goes for stopping each working session. These bookends help you create more “muscle memory” when it comes to working on your side hustle. This allows you to more easily know what to expect when working on your business, even if you work on something different each night. The same patterns of starting and stopping are what your brain will use to develop healthy side hustle habits.
